Dr. phil. Christine Szkiet

Christine Szkiet is an art historian, history teacher and cultural manager. Her research and development focus is on communicating cultures of history and remembrance and public history. During her work in museums and galleries, she has designed numerous exhibitions on art and cultural history topics and has been involved in the digital mediation of cultural heritage.

At the Institute for Institute for Education in Social Sciences, she focussed on coming to terms with the past and history policy in school history textbooks in international comparison and Holocaust education. She has developed numerous concepts for teaching various historical topics. Most recently, she realised her concept for the Danioth Digital website. This is a digital narrative world for the artist Heinrich Danioth with a presentation of the collection and various educational programmes for different target audiences.

Since 2017, she has been involved in the development and consolidation of the Master programme in History Education and Public History as a programme manager, works as a lecturer on the development and communication of history and remembrance culture in schools and the public sphere and coordinates the Swiss Public History Network.
