Zwingli

Teaching material for the film
The University of Teacher Education Lucerne has developed teaching materials for history lessons based on the feature film «Zwingli». The film (directed by Stefan Haupt), which was released in Swiss cinemas on 17 January 2019, tells the story of Zurich reformer Ulrich Zwingli not only from his point of view, but also from that of his wife Anna. It thus opens up different perspectives on a central phase of Swiss history: the Reformation in Switzerland in the 16th century and its social, political and cultural significance.
Ulrich Zwingli and the Reformation also play a role in history lessons. On behalf of the producer C-FILMS AG, Prof. Dr Karin Fuchs from the University of Teacher Education Lucerne, together with Master students Fabian Blaser and Daniela Scheidegger, has developed teaching units for secondary levels I and II based on individual film sequences. The aim is for pupils to be able to place the Zwingli film in the wider historical context and for the excitingly presented content to generate added value for the classroom.
The collaboration between the production company C-FILMS AG and the University of Teacher Education Lucerne is a prime example of cooperation between a university and public history culture or business. The two institutions have been working closely together in a strategic partnership for some time. Employees of C-FILMS AG introduced themselves at several study programmes at the University of Teacher Education Lucerne, where also teaching materials for the films «Akte Grüninger» and «Der Verdingbub» were developed, contributing significantly to the success of the films.
